Projects of the second phase of the construction and modernization of the gas transmission systemBy the Plan of development, construction and modernization of gas transmission system in the Republic of Croatia from 2002 to 2011, three groups of regional projects have been planned: The gas transmission system Pula – Karlovac, the gas transmission system of the Central and Eastern Croatia and the gas transmission system of Lika and Dalmatia.

In the first development-investment phase 2002-2006, the most important was the construction of the objects on the gas transmission system Pula-Karlovac and on the gas transmission system of Central and Eastern Croatia.

In 2006 480 km of the new gas pipelines were completely constructed and put into operation as well as the new national dispatching centre and the system of remote monitoring and control of the gas pipeline in Croatia together with the optic fibre connection system.

By the Plan of development, construction and modernization of gas transmission system Croatia has got “the new backbone of the gas transmission system”, which provides the continuity of this big energy project and gasification of Lika, Dalmatia, Western Croatia and other parts of Croatia and creates the new natural gas supply directions.

For the following development-investment phase 2007-2011, Plinacro made Modifications and Supplements of the Plan of development, construction and modernization of the gas transmission system of the Republic of Croatia from 2002 to 2011 – Second investment phase from 2007 to 2011, which was approved by the Ministry of economy, labour and entrepreneurship on November 14, 2006, Class 310-05/05-01/13, file no.526-04-01-01/1-06-20.

The crucial objects of the second investment phase are the objects of Gas Transmission System in Lika and Dalmatia. The construction of this section of gas transmission system will significantly cover Croatian regions by the gas system and enable the utilization of natural gas in Lika and Dalmatia, thus solving the problem of dependence on electric power of that part of Croatia, particularly Dalmatia. The natural gas supply will give a new swing to the economy development of these regions as quality and ecologically accepted energy source.
