Plinacro signed agreements for grants from CEF Telecom EU fund for three cybersecurity projects

Zagreb, 29 August – At the end of April this year Plinacro was approved a grant by the European Commission from the CEF Telecom EU fund for three cybersecurity projects in the amount of EUR 641 thousand. These days the story received more formal outlines since Plinacro signed the relevant grant agreements with the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA).

Plinacro has been awarded the funds based on the application of the projects for the CEF Telecom. The funds will be used to increase cybersecurity of corporate IT network infrastructure and information systems for providing Plinacro’s services as the transmission system operator.

This was preceded by the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning measures for a high common level of security of network and information systems across the Union (NIS Directive) implemented into the Croatian legislation through the Cyber Security Act of Key Service Operators and Digital Service Providers. Based on the mentioned Act, the relevant Ministry of Environment and Energy identified Plinacro as an operator of a key service of gas transmission. Due to this the company has assumed the obligation to carry out a range of measures and activities (in order to meet the requirements from the mentioned Directive and the Act) most of which will be met by the implementation of the project for which the respective grant has been approved.

To conclude it is worth recalling that Plinacro has been successful in withdrawing funds from the CEF fund, so that the total amount of grants awarded to the Croatian gas transmission system operator has reached a considerable amount of EUR 24 million.
