Plinacro at the 21st Natural Gas, Heat and Water Conference and the 14th International Natural Gas, Heat and Water Conference

The 21st Natural Gas, Heat and Water Conference and the 14th International Natural Gas, Heat and Water Conference were held in Osijek from 27 to 29 September.
This three-day conference was the gathering of more than 250 participants who are dealing with this economic segment in various fields of engineering practice, as well as at the scientific and research level. The conference was divided into five sections and 250 professional papers were submitted, said the Conference Chair, Pero Raos, Professor from the Mechanical Engineering Faculty, University of Slavonski Brod. He stated that the Conference is a meeting place for the best experts with the aim of exchanging experiences in the fields of gas, heat, energy, water and water management. Raos added that this was an exchange of experiences among practice, business entities and the academic community, where new ideas were developed.

On Thursday, 28 September, a round table was held on the topic: “Two years of the gas crisis is behind us, what our next step?”, attended by Igor Sutlović from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, as a moderator, Marko Blažević from HEP-Trgovina, Srećko Ezgeta from Gradska plinara Bjelovar, Zvonimir Šibalić from PPD, Nikola Vištica from HERA and Vedran Špehar, Assistant to the President of Plinacro Board.

In the context of creating additional infrastructure preconditions for the security of gas supply in newly created circumstances, Mr Špehar reminded about the decision of the Government of the Republic of Croatia to increase the LNG terminal capacity and construct Zlobin – Bosiljevo gas pipeline, taken last year in August. He pointed out that immediately after the Government took this decision Plinacro initiated implementation of the project of constructing the parallel 58 km long gas pipeline which is to enable receipt of additional volumes of gas from the LNG terminal up to the total amount of 3.5 billion cubic meters per year. “Plinacro has obtained the building permit already at the end of October last year, it concluded contracts on procurement of steel gas pipes and equipment, and the contract for the execution of works is ready to be signed. As a result of many years of timely planning and development of gas transmission system we expect the constructions works on the Zlobin – Bosiljevo gas pipeline to commence as soon as possible and to be put into operation in 2025“, Mr Špehar concluded. He also mentioned that the decisions on increasing the transmission capacities towards Slovenia and Hungary as well as connecting the gas transmission systems of the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina were expected to be taken by the end of the year.

The conclusions of the round table are that the global market stabilised and that the new supply routes are being established via the LNG terminal with special emphasis on the role of the Croatian LNG terminal on the island of Krk and its significance for the security of gas supply for the SEE countries.
