The forum gathered representatives of the Croatian and Canadian companies and institutions, with the aim of further strengthening economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. Special emphasis was given to opening new business opportunities, investment and partnership opportunities, and to areas in which Croatia and Canada can further enhance their cooperation, including energy, advanced technologies, information and communication technologies as well as security.

Plinacro's participation in the forum was an opportunity to additionally present the role that a national gas transmission system operator has in strengthening the security of supply, diversification of supply routes and development of infrastructure strategically important for the Republic of Croatia and the wider region. The importance of energy security has been further emphasized in the context of strengthening the economic cooperation of Croatia and Canada. It was pointed out that Croatia has been strengthening its energy security and independence by expending the capacity of the LNG terminal on Krk and investing in gas pipelines which further enhance security of supply in unstable global circumstances.

In this very context, Plinacro has been carrying out one of the most significant investment cycles in its history. Here we refer to the project of gas infrastructure strengthening, worth Eur 533 million which includes construction of four gas pipelines: Zlobin - Bosiljevo, Bosiljevo - Sisak, Kozarac - Sisak and Zabok - Lučko. The implementation of these investments creates preconditions for increasing the capacity of transporting gas from the LNG terminal on Krk, strengthening security of supply and stronger connecting of the Croatian gas transmission system with the markets of neighbouring countries.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the LNG terminal on Krk had transformed Croatia from a dependent energy importer into the regional energy hub and that in such circumstances energy infrastructure represented an important element of national resilience, economic competitiveness and collective safety.
