Gas Transmission System Operators (TSOs) of the Southern Corridor Region publish the third edition of their Gas Regional Investment Plan

Press release

Gas Transmission System Operators (TSOs) of the Southern Corridor Region publish the third edition of their Gas Regional Investment Plan.
(Brussels, 19 September 2017, PR0144-17) The TSOs of the Southern Corridor Region have today released the third edition of their Gas Regional Investment Plan (SC GRIP 2017) in line with Art. 12(1) of the Regulation (EC)715/2009.

This SC GRIP builds on the previous editions of the report, published in 2012 and 2014 and complements the Ten Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP) 2017. It provides an outlook of the development of the Regional gas market and presents information on infrastructure projects within the Region.

Dimitrios Kardomateas, ENTSOG General Assembly member and division director for Strategy and Development of DESFA said: “The present edition of the SC GRIP comes at a time when the first large projects that are expected to give life to the Southern Gas Corridor have entered in the construction phase while, at the same time, we may see the first positive results of the CESEC initiative, regarding gas backhaul and reverse flow at the Region’s interconnecting points as well as the agreement for the development of the vertical corridor. Since the last GRIP publication recent developments include issues like the way to bring the Black Sea and Levantine gas to European markets, the importance of the Poland Slovakia interconnector for linking the Region to the Baltic and the options for new routes for Russian gas”.

As with the previous edition, this report addresses demand and supply forecasts, capacities, nominations and flows, at interconnecting points. It also includes analysis through modelling of the remaining flexibility or supply disruption under various conditions, with additional focus on the flows under several disruption cases combined with infrastructure levels in various points in time.

TSOs of the Southern Corridor Region hope that the SC GRIP will provide useful information to all stakeholders, fostering awareness about the development of the gas infrastructure projects and gas market.

The SC GRIP, including Annexes A, B and C, is available on the ENTSOG website (http://www.entsog.eu/publications/gas-regional-investment-plan-grips#SOUTHERN-CORRIDOR) and the websites of the Region’s TSOs.

This GRIP was coordinated by DESFA, the Greek gas TSO. For your feedback or request of any further information, please contact Joseph Florentin (j.florentin@desfa.gr) or Antonia Spyropoulou (a.spyropoulou@desfa.gr). All stakeholders are invited to share with the TSOs, their comments or proposals that could help improve the next edition.
