LNG Croatia LLC signed a contract for the delivery of an additional regasification module

The LNG Croatia Company signed a contract with the Wartsila Gas Solutions Company to deliver an additional regasification module with a maximum capacity of 250,000 m3/h, worth EUR 22,970,000. The production of the regasification module will take 22 months, and its installation on the FSRU vessel LNG Croatia will be carried out during the summer of 2025. Signing of the contract with the Norwegian partner represents the first step towards the expansion of the LNG terminal capacity, and the implementation of this investment is in compliance with the Decision by the Croatian government dtd. 18 August 2022 on enhancing the security of gas supply by constructing the Zlobin – Bosiljevo gas pipeline and expanding the LNG terminal capacity to 6.1 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas per year.

The signing of the contract was attended by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mr Davor Filipović, Director of LNG Croatia LLC, Mr Hrvoje Krhen and the President of the Board of Plinacro, Mr Ivica Arar.  They addressed the audience upon the signing ceremony.

“We are doubling the LNG terminal capacity and strengthening the gas pipeline network. Today, we signed the contract for the delivery of an additional regasification module which is to enable expansion of capacity, and we are heading in the direction for Croatia to become an energy hub of this part of the EU“, Minister Filipović said.

Director of LNG Croatia LLC, Mr Hrvoje Krhen pointed out that the anticipated technology of the new module is the same as the technology of the existing module. “Therefore, the module will be produced pursuant to the highest industry standards and the highest environmental standards. It will use glycol as an intermediate fluid and work in the same way as it has been working so far“, Mr Krhen pointed out.

“As regards the Zlobin- Bosiljevo gas pipeline which should be completed by the end of 2025, Plinacro commenced procurement procedure for equipment and pipes while the call for tenders for the works has been announced. This gas pipeline enables transmission of gas from the LNG terminal up to its current technical capacity of 3.6 billion cubic meters of gas“, Mr Ivica Arar, President of the Board of Plinacro said. He also pointed out that it is necessary to construct additional gas pipelines to transport new gas volumes from the LNG terminal in the direction of Slovenia and Hungary. “Building permit for the gas pipeline towards Slovenia has already been obtained and further procedures of both parties have been agreed. If the funds are provided within a short period of time, the construction of gas pipeline can commence; however, for the gas pipeline towards Hungary certain projects need yet to be completed which is expected to happen in the following three to four years“, Mr Arar concluded.
