6.5 Cluster Krk LNG Terminal with connecting and evacuation pipelines for towards Hungary and beyond

Cluster under no. 6.5 belongs to the group 6 - Priority Corridor North-South Gas Interconnections in Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe (NSI East – Gas)

On the valid 4th PCI list this group includes following Plincro´s projects:
Implementation of the project of connecting gas pipeline Omišalj-Zlobin will connect the planned LNG terminal on the island of Krk with the existing transmission system of Plinacro at the future gas node Zlobin which will enable supply of the Croatian market with gas and together with the project Compressor station 1 at the Croatian gas transmission system it will enable transmission of gas from the LNG terminal in the direction of Hungary and beyond.

Besides the transmission of gas to Hungary through the existing interconnection it will enable transmission of gas from the LNG terminal also to Slovenia as well as to other neighbouring countries, that is, to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro when the preconditions are met, that it, when the planned interconnections and the Ionian-Adriatic Pipeline are implemented.

This connecting gas pipeline and the Compressor station 1 have got wide strategic meaning at the Croatian gas transmission system since they represent parts of the potential transmission-supply route Baltic-Adriatic which is the part of the Three seas initiative where the Polish and the Croatian LNG terminals would serve as the main points in gas supply for this transmission-supply route.

In addition, PCI projects of Plinacro, the connecting gas pipeline Omišalj-Zlobin and the Compressor station 1 are compatible with the potential implementation of the second phase of the LNG terminal.
